We often find a lot of people have heard about adjustable beds yet believe they are either a full medical bed or a bed that you would only get in hospitals. Both these assumptions are very far from the truth. The personal use adjustable bed has actually been around for a lot of years & has crept into mainstream bed stores due to the vast selection available at prices that no longer require you to get a second mortgage.
All these beds are made up from 4 simple components. The base, the support frame, the motor & the mattress. The base on these beds is purely cosmetic & is there to hold the support frame. On almost every one of these beds the support frame is made up of a 5 piece moving system that allows for the different positions that can be achieved by raising or lower different parts of the bed. This frame is usually a steel outer with sprung beech slats with tensioners to allow a softer or harder feel.
The bed motor is fully attached to the frame & has an easy function controller that is used to get the desired sleeping or sitting position. Research has shown that one the main benefits of an adjustable bed is the ability to keep moving without putting additional stress on the body. By small gentle regular movements these beds can ensure comfort for hours & will stop the usual stiffness problems associated with traditional beds. As with every bed regardless of style, the mattress is still the most important component. For many years the pocket sprung mattress was the main type available for electric beds & they had been either soft medium or firm feel. Whilst these are still extremely popular we have found that the memory foam option has proven to be a great option. The real benefit of the memory foam is the lack of springs in the mattress. The fact that there are no springs means the mattress can totally hug the contours of the body regardless of sleeping position.
